For the past 36 years, the North Shore Resource Centre has supported North Shore schools, early childhood centres and community groups with cheap or free resources.

The centre is run by a team of volunteers. With the help of a few more people, its hours can be extended, allowing more resources to be sourced and redistributed to the community.

“The centre provides our community with a win-win service,” says Kaipātiki Local Board Chair Kay McIntyre. “Local businesses can recycle items for a good cause, rather than seeing them go to waste. And schools are able to access low-cost resources to help with teaching and creative projects.”

“Late last year, the centre needed help with a new premise, so we were pleased to be able to help by approving a lease enabling them to relocate from Wairau Road to 44 Mahara Avenue in Birkenhead."

“We are calling on locals who have a couple spare hours each week, or have resources that could be useful, to get in contact with Colin Mayers at the resource centre and have a chat,” says Kay.

Colin can be reached on 021 972609 or via the resource centre's website.
