Auckland Council’s many community facilities and open spaces offer a range of free and low-cost activities. Most of them are open to everyone – and many are also perfect for seniors. Here are five ideas for things you can do to stay active over winter . . .
1. Go walkabout with a council ranger
Ranger-guided walks and talks are a great way to enjoy our natural environment and meet the people who work in our parks. Some walks are more challenging than others, so ask about the difficulty when booking.

4. Learn something new at a library
Visit Auckland Libraries to find out about computer classes, exhibitions, author talks and much more. Check out downloadable e-books, e-audiobooks, and eMagazines and eNewspapers. Library staff can help you get online.
5. Try out our Tree Trail
The Tree Trail is a 1.5km amble through the Auckland Botanic Gardens. It is accessible to prams, wheelchairs and scooters, and you can book a free mobility scooter or wheelchair to use. Audio descriptions are available.
