CoreNet New Zealand has named John Dalzell, Interim Chief Executive of Panuku Development Auckland, their Executive of the Year. The award was presented last week at their annual symposium for the corporate real estate industry.
NZ Chapter Chair Rod Aitken is delighted that John’s commitment and contribution to the changing landscape of Auckland is recognised.
“John’s leadership in the successful transformation of Auckland’s waterfront is proven by the hundreds of people who flock to the new parks, boulevards, offices, cafés and bars of the waterfront each day to work, play - and soon to live - in a part of the city formerly reserved for cargo.”
“The opportunity to open Auckland’s central city foreshore to the public was the most significant urban regeneration opportunity afforded New Zealand’s largest city in the last 50 years."
About John Dalzell
As Chief Executive of Waterfront Auckland, John Dalzell led the revitalisation of a large part of Auckland's central city waterfront - arguably the largest urban regeneration project in New Zealand.
In this role, he led the organisation to revitalise and open up the formerly private, industrial waterfront land for all Aucklanders and visitors to the city. John created and successfully implemented a commercial strategy to catalyse around $1 billion of real estate development in partnership with the private sector over the next 10 years.
In his role as Interim Chief Executive of Panuku Development Auckland, John is now tasked with taking the success achieved on the waterfront and rolling it out region wide.
He is focused on collaboration with a commitment to a place-based community approach to urban regeneration where a broad range of viewpoints, ideas and skills are incorporated.
