Teed Street, located in Newmarket’s laneways, is thriving with vibrant hospitality, entertainment venues and busy retail stores.

It is also one of the first areas to receive an urban design upgrade, as part of the wider Newmarket Laneways Streetscape Improvement Project.

The upgrade of Teed Street is a great opportunity to create a space that is safer, more user-friendly, and more inviting to new visitors and supports local businesses.

Waitematā Local Board is seeking feedback on proposed elements of the Teed Street upgrade, which include footpath widening, increased greenery, parking changes, areas for outdoor dining and new street furniture.

The board undertook community consultation on the Newmarket Laneways Project in May and June 2015 and finalised the Newmarket Laneways Plan in October 2015.

This consultation on the upgrade of Teed Street is to help finalise elements of the first part of this project.

Give feedback

You can give feedback at www.shapeauckland.co.nz or pick up a form from the Waitematā Local Board office or Parnell Public Library.

Consultation closes on Wednesday 17 August 2016 and feedback will be incorporated into the final draft of proposed changes to Teed Street for Local Board consideration at their September Business Meeting.

Once the local board has adopted the plan, a copy will be available on the Auckland Council website.
