Locals joined Mayor Len Brown and the Albert-Eden Local Board on Saturday to mark a special occasion – the opening of the Mount Albert pedestrian link bridge.
Rainy weather didn’t dampen the crowd that turned up to witness the special opening of the pedestrian link bridge, which connects the train station to the Mount Albert town centre.
The bridge was funded by the Albert-Eden Local Board, subsidised by New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and delivered by Auckland Transport.
The bridge connection is part of a wider plan and investment to upgrade the Mount Albert town centre over the next 30 years.
The overall upgrade will include a number of enhancements to the centre, including streetscape improvements and a new plaza.
