Auckland Transport has released a video showing what the new Manukau Bus Station will most likely look like once construction is complete.
To be located next to Manukau train station, the new facility will be at the heart of the new public transport network for south Auckland.
Enabling works to prepare the site for main construction works have been completed and included installing a new stormwater management system, vertical sand drains, a drainage blanket and preload through the middle of the site.
The preload is designed to squeeze moisture out of the soft saturated ground. The moisture will escape through the sand drains, flow upwards until it reaches the drainage blanket then drain away.
Main construction work is expected to start in late 2016 and be completed in the second half of 2017.
