Auckland Transport will be replacing the restricted paid parking system in Takapuna with a new unrestricted paid parking system from the middle of December 2016.
Following public consultation earlier this year, time limits will be removed and demand will be managed through price, meaning visitors will have flexibility on how long they can stay.
Parking will be $1 an hour for the first two hours, rising to $2 for any subsequent hour. A 10-minute grace period will allow for pick-ups and drop-offs without needing to pay.
Parking on Sundays and public holidays will be free and new electronic payment methods, including mobile apps, will also be introduced, making it easier to pay for and top up parking as needed.
