As a second-year student at the Manukau Institute of Technology, Chelsea realised early in her studies that she needed to gain experience to develop her capability in human resources.
In November she joined Auckland Council as part of the 2016/2017 intern programme.
"With so much interesting work and incredible opportunities to take advantage of, my biggest challenge has been cramming as much as I possibly can into three months,” she says.
“I've also been part of the team that is developing an action plan for Māori Responsiveness in recruitment and talent, and as a proud Māori woman, if there's anywhere I would like to leave my mark, this would be the place!”
“I am also a mother of two primary-aged children and find my managers are really flexible and supportive of my commitments to my whānau.”
"My internship experience at Auckland Council has been incredible. When I graduate, I would like to continue working for Auckland Council and apply for the graduate programme."
