Panuku Development Auckland has started trialling a Clean Cube Bin on the Westhaven Marina promenade.
Clean Cube Bins are solar powered, use cloud based technology and GPS, and are able to hold eight times the amount of rubbish as a conventional rubbish bin its size.
The bin can compress rubbish, allowing it to hold eight times more than a standard bin, and sends an alert when it is ready to be emptied.
