Waiheke Local Board is encouraging everyone to do their bit to help eliminate pests from Waiheke Island.
Community involvement is vital to the success of eradicating animal pests from Waiheke and surrounding islands, where native birds such as kākā are beginning to migrate.
The predator ‘hit list’ includes stoats, which even in low numbers can threaten native species.
Visitors and locals are encouraged to go to the Predator Free Waiheke Facebook page to report stoat sightings and to find out more about how to make Waiheke a predator-free island where native species can thrive.
