New Lynn is now accessible via Great North Road, which has been partially re-opened.
Water levels have receded enough that two lanes, as well as footpaths, through the Great North Rd and Clark St intersection were re-opened shortly after 9am to vehicles and pedestrians.
Barry Potter, Director of Infrastructure and Environmental Services, says that the re-opening of Great North Road will reinstate easier access to the New Lynn town centre and businesses. The council will continue to monitor the site.
