Did you know that Henderson is full of great things to do? It has everything from parks and playgrounds, to pools, leisure centres and libraries, all run or looked after by Auckland Council.
Have you thought about…
- Visiting Waitakere Library to pick up a new book, discover What Lies Beneath, and be wowed by some of the incredible Black Stacks NZ Rep Team demonstrating their skills. They can stack and boy can they stack fast! Go to aucklandlibraries.co.nz to find out what activities are on at your local library.
- Booking a kids’ creative workshop to make snowflake screen prints, magic creature stamps, or dining with the wild things at Corban Arts Estate.
- Exploring the spectacular Fairy Falls track by walking through ancient forests and along flowing streams. Remember! We need your help to stop the spread of kauri dieback so when walking in the Waitakeres remember to wash your shoes and your pets feet afterwards.
- Getting outdoors in Moire Park in Massey. Explore walking tracks through native bush, the playground, a 1.4km off-road bike loop, sports fields and picnic areas galore – all perfect for burning off excess energy!
- Tackling the Hillary Trail which takes you on a journey through native forest, rocky shores and black sand beaches, and offers a magnificent view around every corner. Remember! We need your help to stop the spread of kauri dieback so when walking in the Waitakeres remember to wash your shoes and your pets feet afterwards.
- Slipping and sliding down the hydroslide at West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre.
- Visiting the Arataki Visitor Centre, gateway to the beautiful Waitākere Ranges and its 250km of walking tracks. Chat with one of the friendly staff for directions, walking track ideas for all ages and abilities and weather conditions at west coast beaches.
These are just some of the many services that Auckland Council and your local board support in your area.
