Auckland Council staff member Helena Barkman used to spend an hour getting to work on the bus.
Since she switched to an e-bike in May, she’s cut her commute to 18 minutes each way.
At first she wasn’t sure if an e-bike was the right choice, so she tried one from the fleet of bikes Auckland Council provides for staff members to use on business trips around town.
After three days she was hooked, so she bought an e-bike of her own and now she’s a dedicated e-commuter.
Getting to work is much less hassle for Helena these days. It’s also more fun and it raises her heart rate enough to tick off her weekly aerobic exercise quota.
