With daylight savings giving your more hours to relax and play – why not get out and enjoy one of the many great parks, walkways and outdoor activities the Howick ward has to offer.
In recent months we’ve been busy renewing some of our playgrounds like at Bucklands Beach and Blyton Lane Park in Pakuranga.
If you’re looking to get more of a sweat up, check out the new fitness stations in Howick Domain. New fitness stations are also expected to be installed at Burswood Park in the next few months as ground conditions improve.
There is new playspace at Robin Brooke Park in Flat Bush and the very popular snakes and ladders playground at Farm Cove has reopened after it was damaged by fire.
Howick Local Board parks programme lead Garry Boles says having exciting playgrounds and spaces for families and parks that are well-maintained is something important to the people of Howick and he is delighted to see so much work taking place.
“It’s important to us that our parks, playgrounds, sporting and community facilities meet the needs of our community so these sites need to keep evolving."
“These spaces also need to allow for a wide variety of recreational activities and encourage people to be healthy and active.”
Other projects underway include a new walkway between Panmure and Highbrook and pavilion in the southern part of Barry Curtis Park.
