Auckland Council has received a statement from one of our maintenance contractors Ventia, apologising for delays in its mowing and gardening work.
Auckland Council General Manager Community Facilities Rod Sheridan has met with Ventia’s Chief Executive Officer, Executive General Manager and senior managers, received an apology from the company and discussed a committed plan to resolve performance issues around mowing and gardening in recent months.
“Ventia’s contract started in July when it took on responsibility for all facilities maintenance services of parks, open space and buildings in Tahi (Devonport-Takapuna, Hibiscus and Bays, Kaipatiki, and Upper Harbour) and Wha (Maungakiekie-Tamaki, Howick, Orakei and Waitemata) areas,” Mr Sheridan says.
“What we are dealing with at present is Ventia’s underperformance in mowing and gardening. We have spoken at length with Ventia management about its performance and have aligned on performance improvement measures moving forward.
“Auckland Council and Ventia are working closely together to ensure the facilities meet the outcomes expected by our communities. When these performance issues have been resolved, we believe that this contract model will deliver for Auckland.”
Ventia commits to resolving park mowing and gardening concerns
Ventia this morning issued a statement saying that it is aware that the inadequacy of mowing and gardening of parks in Auckland has been a concern for many residents and ratepayers.
“As the holder of maintenance contracts, including those for parks and open spaces in the central and northern parts of Auckland, Ventia would like to issue an unreserved apology for the insufficient mowing and gardening work that have caused disappointment,” Ventia Executive General Manager Peter Handel says.
“We take this matter extremely seriously and have significantly increased our resources on the ground so we can catch up on delayed work,” Mr Handel says.
Ventia is working with Auckland Council to address concerns regarding the mowing and gardening work in parks and open spaces and has aligned on performance improvement measures moving forward.
