There’s another new splash pad on the block – at the Stanmore Bay Pool and Leisure Centre to be exact.
The beach-themed splash pad, which is free for people to enjoy, has been delivered thanks to the council’s strategic partnership with ANZ.
Full of an array of water features, including fountains, mist sprayers and elevated structures, the splash pad will be the place to be in Whangaparāoa to cool off this summer.
The opening was celebrated by Albany Ward councillors Wayne Walker and John Watson, ANZ’s General Manager Retail & Business Banking Andrew Webster, Hibiscus and Bays Local Board members and special guest Design a Rashie competition winner Kyra Fox.
Healthy and active families
“The new splash pad has been designed with Auckland families in mind and is all about encouraging healthier, more active communities,” says Auckland Council’s Head of Active Recreation Rob McGee.
“We have ensured throughout the build and with the materials used that this splash pad provides children of all ages and abilities with a safe, fun and accessible water play area.
“We look forward to seeing the splash pad bustling with families over summer.”
All about the community
Mr Webster says, “ANZ’s supporting splash pads as they’re a fun place for families and kids to escape the heat and spend time together over summer.
“The new splash pads in Stanmore Bay and Pakuranga support our vision to help communities grow and thrive.”
