The Epsom Community Centre, based in the heritage stone buildings near the southern end of Gillies Ave, celebrated its 35th anniversary late last year.
The Centre has provided a heart for the local community since it opened in 1982. Highlights of the past 35 years include the opening of the Epsom Community Creche in 1986, the restoration of the historic pump station, and the opening of the Community Garden in 2012.
The Centre has also provided space for numerous community groups to meet and offer classes and activities.
“Year-in, year-out members of the community have contributed time and effort to provide these vital local services," says local board member Lee Corrick.
"It’s a real pleasure to recognise this amazing record of service.”
The Albert-Eden local board chair Peter Haynes looks forward to working with the Centre’s management committee for another 35 years.
