The fuel pontoon on the Old Matiatia Wharf will be closed for maintenance between 12-23 November.
The main wharf and the southern pontoon will be accessible during maintenance works but there is no refuelling facility on that pontoon. The closest alternatives are the Half Moon Bay and Ōrākei marinas.
Meanwhile work at Kennedy Point is well underway with contractors making good progress on the ramp cofferdam structure.
The work site is sandwiched between Sealink ferry traffic queuing on Donald Bruce Rd and the bulk materials ship Kapua, which delivers 2100 tonnes of stone, aggregate and other materials each week for Auckland Transport’s roading programmes and other Waiheke businesses.
When abutment ramp works are complete, the cofferdam sheet piles will be trimmed to the required height, eliminating the environmental risks associated with taking them out. It also gives a longer lifespan to the new abutment by protecting it from marine concrete’s three main enemies – sulphates, chlorination and carbonation.
Despite the building programme being agreed, contractors are continually looking for time efficiencies, cost savings and new ways to work.
That work is especially focussed on reducing environmental impact and minimising the impact the work has on the terminal and its customers.
Weekly meetings have already led to the tweaking of the cofferdam design and efficiencies in excavation sidewall foundation pouring.
