A new 3x3 basketball court has been built at Milford Beach Reserve thanks to funding allocated by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.
A fun community opening event was held at the reserve on the weekend to celebrate its completion and opening.
The event featured a stack of free entertainment and fun for children of all ages, including a tournament hosted by North Harbour Basketball.
The new basketball court is located adjacent to the two existing volleyball courts.
Devonport-Takapuna Local Board Chair George Wood says he's pleased to see it completed and opened in time for summer.
“It's been a while in the making, so we're glad to see it finally here and ready for use by the Milford community," says Wood.
"We also have some shade sails being installed shortly at the reserve's playground. These will make it more enjoyable for park users to use in the heat of summer."
