Ōtāhuhu’s town centre and surrounding streets are set for a stunning revamp aimed at revitalising the area for businesses and residents alike.
The project will achieve Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board’s long-held desire to develop Ōtāhuhu Town Centre and enhance connectivity across the area.
Local board chair Lemauga Lydia Sosene says the board has had this project among its priorities for many years and it will continue to advocate for its timely delivery.
“Delivering this project efficiently, on time, with quality finishing and within budget is the local board’s primary goal," Sosene says.
“And we will continue to strongly advocate that Auckland Council and Auckland Transport provide regular updates to the community and ensure the key stakeholders are communicated with throughout the project’s delivery.
“Our local board knows how much this project means to the community and we will ensure it is delivered to the community’s expectations.”
Disruption to be minimised
As with all transformative developments of this nature there will be some disruption, but Auckland Council’s Senior Programme and Project Leader Lisa Spasic says every effort will be made to minimise issues for the community.
“The programme will be delivered in stages to limit traffic and business disruption,” she says.
“Pedestrian access to retail and businesses will remain open at all times and a Stakeholder Liaison Manager will be on site to answer queries from the public and directly impacted stakeholders.”
