Thirteen community organisations have been awarded a combined $13,888 in funding as part of the Whau Local Board quick response community grant programme.
The quick response grant programme awards grants between $500 and $2000 to a number of community organisations in the Whau area.
Tracy Mulholland, Whau Local Board Chair, says the awards are well deserved.
“The quick response grants go towards a wide range of organisations that are doing fantastic work in our community."

“This grant fund means that we can support organisations in a really practical way, helping to make a significant difference to our community," she says.
“All these successful applicants align with the outcomes identified in the Whau Local Board plan.
“The grants help to support a wide range of activities such as partially funding family fun days and community Christmas events as well as helping purchase life jackets and security equipment for small organisations doing great work.
“The board is delighted to be able to provide this support to the community and the very real difference that this money makes.”
Projects funded through the quick response programme are:
- New Windsor Playcentre - Towards costs of printing flyers, bouncy castle and a puppet show for the New Windsor Family Fun Day on Saturday 17 November 2018.
- The West Lynn Garden Society Incorporated - Towards the purchase of large specimen native trees and shrubs, shell paths, garden edging, bark and potting mix for the New Zealand Flower and Garden Show at Trusts Arena for the period 28 November 2018 to 2 December 2018.
- Kelston Community Trust - Towards the purchase of a laptop and software for Kelston Community News and “Proud to be Kelston” initiatives.
- New Zealand Nepalese Association Incorporated - Towards costs for volunteer expenses and materials for a weekly Nepalese language radio programme for the period 1 December 2018 to 30 November 2019.
- New Zealand Karen Association Incorporated - Towards costs for venue hire, stationery, printer, ink and petrol vouchers for Karen Language School for the period 8 September 2018 to 2 March 2019.
- Waitakere Gymnastics Club Incorporated - Towards the purchase and installation costs for a security camera and networked video recorder for Waitakere Gymnastics Club, Olympic Park.
- Cellquip trading as Rampant Coffee Company - Towards costs of printing historic photographs and archived documents for display and cleaning of the building exterior.
- Scout Association of New Zealand New Lynn Sea Scout Group - Towards the purchase of forty life jackets for New Lynn Sea Scouts.
- Waitakere Japanese Supplementary School - Towards costs for stationery for term one, 2019 for the Japanese After-school Programme for the period 28 January 2019 to 19 April 2019.
- Titirangi Community Arts Council Incorporated - Towards costs of venue hire, printing, promotion, advertising, administration and installation of Oaklynn Special School art work exhibition for the period 26 October 2018 to 11 November 2018.
- Avondale Community Action - Towards costs for a face painter, supermarket vouchers, food and refreshments for volunteers, coordinator hours, Facebook, promotion and live music for the Avondale Christmas Market on Friday 7 December 2018.
- Youthline Auckland Charitable Trust - Towards salary for the Auckland central youth work team leader for the period 1 November 2018 to 31 March 2019.
- Encounter Christian Centre Trust - Towards costs to hire two fairground rides for the Avondale Community Christmas Carnival to be held on 15 December 2018.
