Applications are open for a new region-wide grants programme, the Community Coordination and Facilitation Grants Programme, awarding up to $50,000 per annum.
The purpose of the regional programme is to:
- provide funding support for ‘conservation activity’ coordinators or facilitators to be embedded in the community to strategically increase collaboration, capacity and on-the-ground delivery in priority areas across Auckland
- provide funding support for strategic and operational planning, and administrative costs needed to increase the quality and quantity of on-the-ground work.
“We want to support and prioritise conservation-specific activities environment,” says Dr Peter Haynes, Chairperson of Albert-Eden Local Board.
This grant programme is part of delivering Pest Free Auckland and supporting regional biodiversity outcomes. The 2018/2019 regional grant programme is targeted towards landscape scale, catchment or regionally-focussed work.
The grant will support a substantial increase in delivery of community-led conservation activity across the Auckland region through well-equipped and resourced community organisations, iwi, schools or groups. It also aims to support an increase in the long-term sustainability and capacity of organisations, iwi, schools or groups delivering community-led conservation.
