Hobson Bay locals pitch in to clean up Wilson's Beach

Publish Date : 23 Feb 2018

The Wilson's Beach community are proud of their patch of sand on Hobson Bay. Around 15 local residents recently came together in pouring rain to clean up the sanded area, tidy up mangroves and make some jetty repairs.

"It is encouraging to see the local community take the time to get involved, work hard and make a difference for residents and visitors to the area," said Kit Parkinson, Ōrākei Local Board Deputy Chair.

"Wilson's Beach is looking great – a job well done."

Located at the bottom of Victoria Avenue in Remuera, Wilson's Beach was re-sanded in 2014 and is now a popular spot to picnic, swim and kayak.

You can reach Wilson's beach via the Hobson Bay Walkway which starts on Shore Road near Saint Kentigern School.
