AMETI Eastern Busway is a major project in southeast Auckland that will improve transport choices, reliability and journey times in the area and to other parts of Auckland.
Less than 40 minutes from Botany to Britomart
Once it’s finished, you’ll be able to get from Botany to Britomart in less than 40 minutes by bus and train during peak hour.
Buses will travel on dedicated congestion-free lanes between the Panmure and Botany town centres, and a new architecturally designed flyover linking Pakuranga Road to Pakuranga Highway will provide alternative travel choices for motorists and reduce congestion around Pakuranga town centre. The project will provide benefits in east Auckland similar to those of the Northern Busway.
Easier and safer to get around
New walking and cycling connections, intersection upgrades with advanced signalling and urban design enhancements will make it easier, safer and more efficient to get around.
The first stage of the project included the construction of the new rail and bus station at Panmure, which has already become the fifth-busiest station in Auckland. Three more urban bus stations to be created in later stages of the project will further improve connections to other parts of Auckland.
While it has significant regional benefits, AMETI Eastern Busway is a local project for local people, and feedback from residents has helped shape it. Auckland Transport is working with mana whenua, local iwi artists and the community to incorporate the area’s cultural and natural history into the design.
