City Rail Link (CRL) has released videos showing how Lower Queen Street will look in 2020 after the CRL construction is finished in that area.
Downtown's Lower Queen Street will be transformed into a new public space outside the main entrance to Britomart Transport Centre.
The videos also show what will happen to the area around the back of Britomart Transport Centre when the present temporary entrance to the train station is removed once the construction ends.
In January 2017, the Queen Street entrances to Britomart Transport Centre were closed for three years so that the CRL tunnelling work underneath could be done.
The new temporary building was built at the back of the centre resulting in the new main entrance to the transport hub being on Commerce Street.
Commuters can also access the station from Tyler St, Galway St and Takutai Square. A pedestrian-friendly area will be created around Tyler and Galway Streets.
More videos, images and an explanation of the thinking behind the design can be seen on the CRL website.
