If you’ve spotted volunteers in your community and thought “that person deserves an award”, your chance to see them recognised is here with nominations for this year’s Papakura Volunteer Awards now open.
Papakura Local Board is looking for the good sorts of its community - the people and organisations that go above and beyond to make Papakura tick.
“We all know someone or groups that go above and beyond to help, support and inspire others. They make the tea, wash the jerseys and are the first to put their hands up and the last to leave when things need doing,” says Papakura Local Board Chair Brent Catchpole.
“Now is our chance to recognise them and for us as a community to say thank you and to put them in the spotlight for a change.”
Nominations are being accepted across five categories:
Arts
A person or organisation that demonstrates commitment, has long service and is making a difference to the Papakura arts scene.
Sports
A person or organisation going above and beyond to make their sport, club or team a success on and off the field.
Community service (local heroes)
Those individuals making a difference to the Papakura community. These are our ‘good sorts’ – the people always lending a helping hand when needed.
Young person making a difference
Celebrating under-18-year-olds that demonstrate community service or have helped their peers.
Culture
Recognising a person or organisation that demonstrates leadership and a commitment to preserving, showcasing and celebrating our culture – including our heritage.
