Auckland community members leading the way to zero-waste were recognised at the Auckland Community Zero Waste Hui & Awards last week.
Hosted by EcoMatters Environment Trust, this annual event selects leaders in seven categories:

- Power of the people – for a group or community organisation
- Leaders in the making – recognises young people who have helped lead the way to a zero-waste world
- Fair on all fronts – for organisations that have used their zero-waste efforts to influence social, environmental or economic improvements
- Re-imagining the resource – recognises upcycled products
- Shining Star Award – for outstanding community impact
You can check out the winners and runners-up for each category here.
More than 90 community members were nominated for the awards, some as young as 8 years old.
