Papakura’s talented sporting youth are the feature of a photographic exhibition creating a buzz in Papakura’s town centre.
Representing Papakura (#KURAREPS) sees 105 large, black and white portraits of a group of 12-24-year-olds adorning the windows and walls of 13 locations throughout the centre.
“It looks fantastic and has really livened up that part of town and it is great to see the many talented young people of Papakura being centre-stage,” says Brent Catchpole, chairman of Papakura Local Board which has funded the project.
“Activating the town centre with creative ideas like this, as well as events, is what we want to see more of in the area so hats off to those involved.”
Papakura town centre manager Tracey Shackleton agrees.
“It’s wonderful to see our young people from local sports clubs represented in such a professional way and being showcased on the shop fronts.
“It’s been great working with all the parties concerned.”
Representing Papakura was delivered by Fresh Concept with photography by Sean Atavenitia and aims to promote pride in Papakura. The Papakura Business Association has also supported the project.
You can find out more about the young people featured in the exhibition on Facebook or on Instagram.
The exhibition is on show until the end of August.
