Auckland Council has taken a major step toward helping building projects with the introduction of an online inspection booking service.
You can now book, reschedule and cancel bookings online and check your inspection results on a personalised dashboard.
With over 160,000 building inspections taking place each year, managing bookings online will save builders and owners time and money.

Using the booking tool
The council’s general manager of building consents, Ian McCormick said the system works most smoothly when people book only the inspection they need and not book multiple inspections only to cancel the day before.
“[Booking multiple unnecessary inspections] prevents us from getting through the maximum number of inspections and others miss out or are delayed," he said.
"My advice to customers wanting a next day inspection is to check the online booking tool in the afternoon or evening the day before as you will generally find available slots as a result of these cancellations,” he said."
Regulatory Committee Chair Councillor Linda Cooper has welcomed the online innovation.
“Customers get a real-time booking confirmation based on inspector availability and sent reminder messages the day before and the day of the inspection to confirm the inspector’s name and approximate time of arrival,” she said.
“This is already being well-received by the industry and should help speed the process of delivering construction projects as the council deals with the unprecedented building boom.
"It’s also another example of getting more council services online as we progress in 2019.”
