Arts and sports groups have been the major beneficiaries of Howick Local Board’s almost $40,000 in grants.
Board Chairman David Collings says he was pleased to see applications from a diverse range of groups.
“We know finding funding is a struggle for volunteer groups, so being able to help is always a pleasure," he said.
Mr Collings said he was particularly pleased to see a strong focus on water safety among applicants.
Coastguard’s safe boating programme was supported with grant funding, while two schools were helped with costs associated with having their pools open during summer, and multiple sclerosis patients got help with their hydrotherapy programme.
There were also several grants in the arts area and to community groups.
