Remuera’s Wairua Reserve has a brand new playground thanks to the collaborative effort of students from St Kentigern Girls’ School and Ōrākei Local Board.
Ōrākei Local Board Chair Kit Parkinson says students from the school designed and had input into most parts of the playground.
“Our creative collaboration with the students really shows in the results; an imaginative and inspired playground that’s enjoyed by local children and pupils from Remuera Kindergarten just next door.
“We’re really proud in particular of the series of archways over the children’s obstacle course which the students designed and hand-painted themselves,” he said.
St Kentigern Girls’ School teacher Dee-Anne Gonzales says the school is very proud of their students for the effort and creativity which they put into the project.
This month, the new playground was officially opened with a ribbon cutting by the local board alongside staff and students from St Kentigern Girls’, Remuera Kindergarten and members of the community.
