Preparations are in hand to turn Papakura town’s Great South Road into a festival zone on Saturday 4 May, 10am-2pm.
After the success of last year’s inaugural StreetFest, organisers are keen to showcase what Papakura has to offer.
Town centre manager Tracy Shackleton says the festival will be a whanau friendly event celebrating the town, its people and cultural richness.
“Last year 6500 people came, and we had more than 50 stalls. This year we’re aiming for 8000 people," she says.
Stall spaces are going fast and everything from donuts to dim sum, and hot rods to waste-free parenting has been confirmed. The Corner is also activating a chill-out zone in the Town Square.
The StreetFest is part of the Proud Papakura Proud programme focused on building a safe, healthy and culturally diverse community.
The Papakura Local Board and Business Association partnership is in its fourth year and through engaging with the community everyone is working to make Papakura a great place to live, work and visit.
“Papakura is going places,” Tracy says. “We are an increasingly attractive lifestyle choice with strong business activity and growth. We have different housing options, good schooling, a modern retail environment and employment opportunities.”
The business association recently expanded. “We have had strong growth and new businesses are keen to be included,” she says.
There is still space, so if you want to be included contact office@papakura.co.nz or call 09 298 8996
