More than 100 people attended an awards ceremony for the recipients of the Waitematā Local Board Good Citizens’ Awards 2019 at Auckland Town Hall in May.
Youth, individuals and groups from the local board area received awards, with special awards given for long service to the community.
The event also featured performances by the Auckland Street Choir and the Freemans Bay School Whānau Ata Kapa Haka rōpū.
Waitematā Local Board Chair Pippa Coom says volunteers and local groups are integral to much of the good work that happens in the local board area.
“It was really fantastic to officially recognise all our recipients for their valuable contributions which make Waitematā such a great place to live,” she said.
The local board introduced its Good Citizens’ Awards in 2013 and have run the event biennially since then.
