Local families now have access to a brand-new playground at the Harold Long Reserve next to Fearon park in Puketāpapa. Kids will now have lots of sand play, a fun little track for kids on wheels, and a giant rope jungle gym to climb.
This is a part of the larger park upgrade funded by Puketāpapa Local Board. The upgrade project reduces flooding in the area around Parau Street and Fearon Park and improves connectivity between the reserve and the park.
The second stage of the project provides a new footpath connecting Fearon Park to Harold Long Reserve, improved lighting, park furniture and an upgraded entry from Akarana Avenue.
“It is great to finally have this playground open," says Harry Doig, Chair of Puketāpapa Local Board.
"It will be a great asset to the surrounding community and is part of the board’s ongoing upgrade of playgrounds in Puketāpapa. I would like to thank neighbours and the nearby Winstone Tennis club for their tolerance and understanding during the construction.”
