What do your dog registration fees cover?

Councillor Linda Cooper, chair of the Regulatory Committee, says funding from dog registrations provides a wide array of services.

“Annual dog registration is an important part of being a responsible dog owner.  Fees contribute to a number of vital services within animal management, including a 24-hour a day response to dog incidents and attacks, patrols, animal shelters and adoptions, dog-safety education and most importantly reuniting lost dogs with their owners,” she says.

Having your dog registered and micro-chipped is the best way of ensuring we can return your dog to you if it does get lost.

Dog owners are legally required to register their dogs and renew registrations each year; the registration period runs from 1 July to 30 June the following year.

If your dog is not registered, you will be at risk of a $300 fine
