Albert-Eden Local Board, Auckland Council and Auckland Transport are working together to make the local areas safer.
This year the local board received additional community safety funding of nearly $1.3m over two years for local road safety improvements. The board has signed off on several projects, mostly around schools.
In addition, Auckland Transport is planning improvements along some of Albert-Eden’s arterial roads. A recent example are the raised crossings recently installed on Sandringham and Mt Eden Roads.
Over the past few terms, Albert-Eden Local Board has prioritised calming traffic (speed bumps, new road marking) in its suburban streets due to the heavy congestion and rat-running in the area.
Recently released figures show a reduction in the number of deaths and serious injuries (DSI) along roads in Albert-Eden. These, and other coming improvements will make communities safer for everyone – pedestrians, cyclists and school children.
