A Healthy Waters project set to further improve Normanton Reserve in Glenfield has been approved by Kaipātiki Local Board to get underway in October.

The project will involve several elements, including 'daylighting' an ageing underground pipeline running through the park, along with the construction of further improvements, in addition to the recently installed and board-funded natural play space elements and children’s learn-to-ride circuit.

Daylighting works will involve digging up and removing the old pipe and transforming the surrounding area into a natural stream environment through earthworks and planting. Undertaking these works will help improve stream ecology and help to reduce the number of and severity of flooding events in the area.

The learn-to-ride circuit will gain some additional off-road connections that will feature ramps and slopes. An elevated play hut for children and a sheltered area for parents will also be built and installed, along with new park furniture later next year.

The project is expected, weather dependent, to be completed at the end of Autumn 2020.
