The eagerly-awaited Takaanini Station park and ride has opened, making commuting by train even easier.
The facility offers more than 280 spaces, with Auckland Transport adding more parking around its network as the popularity of train travel continues to rise.
But it is not only motorists who benefit, with cyclists getting dedicated covered secure parking for bicycles too.
Auckland Transport integrated networks executive general manager Mark Lambert says more than 500 more parking spots will be opened this financial year.
"Park and rides extend the catchment for public transport. The Takaanini parks mean people from the surrounding area can park securely and take the train. And that frees up our roads by stopping commuter trips by car."
Papakura Local Board says the facility is welcome but users should be aware there is a school close by, and drive accordingly.
