A direct bus from the eastern side of Cockle Bay to the city won’t be reinstated.
Howick Local Board asked Auckland Transport to review services to town when new routes ended the service.
The western part of Cockle Bay has a direct peak-time service and all-day services to Panmure, connecting with trains and buses to the city.
Before the new routes, eastern Cockle Bay had a daytime bus to the city, but it was discontinued, although access to transport links was provided via connections to Botany and the Half Moon Bay ferry terminal.
Residents expressed concern and AT extended its 567 route from Half Moon Bay to Howick and on to Botany Town Centre via Cockle Bay Road, retaining a Cockle Bay and Howick link, and adding one to Botany.
Cockle Bay passengers can now get a service to Howick and on to Panmure for the city; to Botany for services to Ti Rakau Drive, Chapel Rd, Manukau, East Tamaki and Papatoetoe; and to the Half Moon Bay ferry terminal.
