Last month, Auckland Council’s Environment and Community Committee voted to expand Auckland Council’s Retrofit your Home programme to include solar energy, energy storage and energy efficiency interventions.
Retrofit Your Home provides homeowners with a loan of up to $5000 which is repaid through their rates bill over a nine-year term.
Retrofit Your Home is an opt-in Council-run programme that enables ratepayers to access up to $5,000 to make their homes warm, dry and energy efficient, paid off at an interest rate of around 6% over nine years, via their rates bill.
Confirmed suppliers of these new retrofit interventions will be in place from early 2020.
Background
On 13 August the Environment and Communities Committee approved the expansion of Retrofit Your Home to include eight new interventions:
1. Solar Photovoltaics
2. Type 2 residential EV chargers
3. Home energy storage (batteries)
4. Solar pumps
5. Solar hot water heating
6. Heat pump hot water heating
7. Light Emitting Diode lighting (LED)
8. Double layered curtains
These are additional to existing interventions in the programme like insulation, clean heat, water tanks and water efficiency devices.
In order to participate in the Request for Proposals (RFP) process you must be registered with Auckland Council by 27 September by completing the form at aucklandcouncil.supplier-eu.ariba.com/register.
