Education is the focus of this year’s Earthworks Field Day being held at Whenuapai on Thursday.
Organised by Auckland Council, the annual event will bring together around 300 participants for an afternoon of demonstrations and presentations related to the earthworks industry.
Auckland Council Regulatory Compliance Manager Steve Pearce says the day is about promoting “best practice measures for managing earthworks”.
“Whilst we are the regulatory body who will undertake enforcement action in the first instance, we want to educate and work with industry to try and ensure compliance is achieved on sites from the outset,” he says.
“This is best for the environment and a much more effective use of Auckland Council’s limited resources.”
Steve says those attending the event include earthworks industry players, compliance staff and developers.
Presentation topics include; decanting earth bunds, sediment retention ponds, managing mud, bridging the gap between subdivisions to building sites and council updates.
