School children on the way to Konini school in Titirangi will soon benefit from three new raised zebra crossings, making their journey to and from school safer.
The crossings will be installed at two locations on Annison Road and one on Paewai Road thanks to funding from the Waitākere Ranges Local Board Community Safety Fund.
Other projects
Two other projects will also receive funding, with clearer road markings earmarked for the intersection between Titirangi and South Titirangi Road, while the crossing at Swanson Train station will also be upgraded.
Waitākere Ranges Local Board Chair, Greg Presland says that the projects will provide much needed safer crossings and road improvements that will make a significant difference to the community, particularly to Konini school children.
Funding and next steps
With $707,303 to allocate, the board agreed to the five projects, with the three Konini crossings costed at $200k each, the Titirangi road marking to cost $50,000 and the Swanson train station crossing scoped at around $260,000.
The board also agreed to agree in principle to allocate a modest funding top-up should it be required.
Projects will now go into detailed design before the procurement process begins.
