An additional smaller children’s playground is on its way for the much loved Fearon Park in Puketāpapa.
The Puketāpapa Local Board has approved $100,000 of funding for the design and construction of a small playground at Fearon Park. With the funding confirmed, the playground will now enter the design stage.
“The intention is to have 2 or 3 larger pieces of spinning or swinging equipment suitable for younger age group users who require active supervision,” says Philip Goulter, Project Manager, Auckland Council.
The park is already enjoyed and well used by locals and this additional play space will mean families attending sports events on Fearon Park can help keep their young children entertained close-by.
Some of the funding may also be spent towards modifying the surrounding footpaths and safety barriers to make the space safer and more accessible.
The construction will start along with the other planned works, over the next 12 months.
