If you are looking to kick start 2020 by getting more active or learning a new skill, the new programmes at Epsom Community Centre could be just what you are looking for.
Classes starting in February include pilates, yoga, learning to draw and the art of dance – just some of the fun and interesting things to do at the centre.
Since taking on the management of the facility earlier this year, the Parnell Trust has spent time designing programmes and services that meet the community’s needs.
“The centre has always been a popular venue for hire but one of the things we were really keen on was to see it grow beyond that and to be more accessible to our community, by offering services and programmes that would attract people to use it more,” says Albert-Eden Local Board chair Margi Watson.
“I recently stopped by the centre and there is a real sense of excitement and positivity, which is great to see.”
The site on the corner of Gillies Ave and Kimberley Rd is home to the community centre, as well as other groups that have community leases from the Albert-Eden Local Board, including the Epsom Chinese Society, Epsom North Kindergarten and the Epsom Community Creche.
As well as classes, the centre has a community garden, continues to have rooms for hire, and in December launched its new market, which will be held four times throughout the year.
