Sixteen promising students have been awarded Manurewa Local Board Rangatahi Youth Scholarships to pursue study.
But the grants are not restricted to tertiary study, though students taking law, engineering, urban planning and psychology have all been included, with others travelling to Japan for a cultural programme, and one studying horse behaviour.
Board chair Joseph Allan says it is always a pleasure to support the mahi of local groups and organisations in the community. He also acknowledges the Manurewa Youth Council for its participation on the panel and thanked them for their contribution to the decision-making process alongside board members.
Board member Ken Penney says the scholarship programme attracted quality applicants and it was pleasing to set aside money specifically for the area’s young people.
