Bask in good music - from moody love songs to multi-layered rock - and get your summer sorted at Basque Park in Eden Terrace this Saturday.

Basque Park is a prized inner-city green space with a colourful history. It was once in the path of a planned motorway but the community, led by artists and architects, fought back in the '70s and saved Basque Park for future generations.

It’s moments like this when the community gathers on the lawn to hear music that those feisty characters who led the crusade to save Basque Park probably had in mind.

Join Pluto and a top line-up of talent playing Uptown Sounds at Basque Park as part of the Music in Parks series this Saturday 15 February, 2pm-6pm.

Auckland alt-pop band Pluto recently made a triumphant return after a ten-year gap with the surprise drop of their new single 'Oh My Lonely', heralding the release of their long-promised fourth studio IV album.

Auckland Council’s Music in Parks Event Organiser Gavin Downie says: “Pluto's comeback has made a massive splash. The video for their hook-packed new single has racked up a jaw-dropping 120,000 views since its launch at the beginning of July. We are so pleased to have them headline our amazing new event in the heart of Auckland city.”

Described as one of New Zealand’s hidden gems, singer-songwriter Ed Waaka will also be on-stage at Uptown Sounds. Others in the line-up include SOJØURN who will bring their sound to the stage after a bunch of summer festivals and The BackChat who will combine indie textures in modern pop.

And for the littlies, the beloved Suzy Cato will lead a line-up of young artists on a special side-stage for kids.

Just across K Road, Myers Park Medley will bring another larger-than-life musical feast to the inner city on Sunday 16 February, 12pm-4pm, with Dusky Musk, Lesbos, AKSAMBA, Caluzzi Cabaret, 3 Ring Riot and White Chapel Jak taking the stage.

More than 24,000 people have flocked to Auckland Council’s Movies and Music in Parks events already this summer. Both series run until mid-April.

Auckland Council and iHeartRadio present Uptown Sounds, brought to you by Uptown Business Association.
