If you love local, get vocal by helping Hibiscus and Bays Local Board shape the future of its communities.
The board wants to hear the ideas and thoughts of people living in East Coast Bays and the Hibiscus Coast as engagement starts on its three-year 2020 Local Board Plan.
The plan will cover a range of topics relevant to the places where people live, work and play and chair Gary Brown says now is the time to join the conversation.
“The local board has heard that people want to be engaged early in the process. You can talk to board members face-to-face and via a new online tool. It is easy to post ideas, upload photos and videos, and comment on other people’s ideas online.
“We will be calling for formal feedback on the draft plan in June. At the moment, we would like to hear what outcomes and initiatives our local board should focus on. They will include areas such as the environment, economic development, transport, parks, community facilities and enabling community participation. But there are others and we need to hear these so we can include them in the draft plan.”

Talking to local board members at a community event:
- Barfoot & Thompson Murrays Bay Wharf Birdman 2020 on Saturday 14 March, 10am to 3pm at Murrays Bay Wharf and Reserve, Beach Road, Murrays Bay.
- Ōrewa Sandcastle Competition, Sunday 22 March 12pm to 3pm at Moana Reserve, Hibiscus Coast Highway, Ōrewa or at Ōrewa Library if wet.
Hibiscus and Bays Local Board area
The Hibiscus and Bays Local Board area extends from Waiwera in the north to Campbells Bay in the south. It includes Hatfields Beach, Whangaparāoa Peninsula, Ōrewa, Millwater, Silverdale, Stillwater, Torbay, Browns Bay, Rothesay Bay, Murrays Bay and Mairangi Bay. Find your local board.
