Love local, get vocal on the future of Rodney

There is still time for communities to make their voices heard as part of consultation into the Rodney Local Board Plan.

Board members have heard people’s feedback at community events as engagement starts on the three-year,2020 Local Board Plan.

The plan will cover a range of topics relevant to the places where people live, work and play and it is now time to join the online conversation says Chair Phelan Pirrie.

“This is an opportunity for people to give early feedback on the areas that the local board should concentrate on. People can share ideas, make comments and upload photos and videos online.

“While we will be calling for formal feedback on the draft plan in June, it is important to hear from as many people as possible so that plan reflects the needs of the different communities that make up Rodney.”

Some important priorities that the local board is considering include:

  • Increasing the care, monitoring and health of waterways, coastlines and parks
  • Ensuring a balance between developing new areas and the liveability of older centres, while retaining the rural character of Rodney
  • Enabling and supporting the people of Rodney to develop their skills, capacity and sense of community
  • Increasing transport options that are safe, accessible and connected.

People can get involved by going to akhaveyoursay.co.nz/lovelocal to post an idea, or read the current local board plan and other background information.
