Aucklanders have one more week to give Auckland Council their feedback on the Emergency Budget that is in its last week of consultation. The Emergency Budget focusses on how the council will work to recover from the financial impacts of COVID-19 and to understand how council services could be impacted.
Rodney Ward Councillor Greg Sayers encourages everyone who has not already done so, to have a look at the consultation information and give their feedback.
“Businesses throughout Auckland are feeling the economic impact of COVID-19 and the council is no exception,” says Councillor Sayers.
“The projected $525 million drop in council income has serious implications for us all. Our challenge is how to best respond to this reduction in revenue while still offering the services Aucklanders need and value the most like Rodney’s beautiful regional parks, community venues and halls and service centres. We also need to continue vital capital investment and invigorate local and regional economic recovery.
“The Emergency Budget consultation document gives you information on the advantages and disadvantages of either a 2.5 per cent or 3.5 per cent rates rise and gives details about what each option would mean for ratepayers, for local communities and the future of Auckland.
“We’ve had more than 17,000 submissions so far, and it’s really important that we hear from Rodney’s residents and ratepayers so we can better understand the direction you want us to take.
The Emergency Budget consultation is open until 19 June 2020.
