A prosperous economy, better infrastructure, sustainable environment, and safe and connected communities are some of the key priorities you have helped us identify for a thriving future of Ōtara-Papatoetoe.
These priorities feature in our proposed Local Board Plan that is now being consulted.
Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Chair Lotu Fuli says the proposed Local Board Plan will set direction for the next three years and help guide our decisions and activities that cater to our diverse communities.
“During community consultations, people told us what improvements and changes they want to see in the area.
"We have designed our draft plan based on their feedback and it will determine the decisions we make to implement those changes."
The proposed outcomes in Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board plan are:
- Transform Manukau
- A prosperous local economy
- A thriving, inclusive and safe community
- Parks and facilities that meet our people’s needs
- A sustainable, healthy natural environment
- A connected area that’s easy to get around
The impacts of COVID-19 are still emerging so it is important to understand the community's expectations now, says Ms Fuli.
“The changes that COVID-19 has brought in only stress the importance of the community’s well-being and the need for resilience more than ever.
"Our communities are at the heart of the decisions we make and over the next three years we will be working towards an environment they can thrive and prosper in.
“Transforming Manukau is a key part of our plan to enable growth and development. Our commitment towards protecting the environment will help us continue to adapt sustainable working models and reduce the impact of climate change.
“We want to know from you if we are on the right path to make the most difference in Ōtara-Papatoetoe.
